This is me.
- After getting my BA from Boston University, I taught elementary school. Years later, I ran my own preschool program. The best part of my day was telling my students stories. That is when I knew I wanted to be a writer. I joined the Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and worked hard to make my dreams come true

That is when I knew I wanted to be a writer. I joined the Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and worked hard to make my dreams come true.
- Runner up for the 2016 SCBWI Sue Alexander Award for my picture book manuscript.
- Recipient of the 12x12 2018 diversity scholarship.
- I was the 2020 SCBWI Work-in-Progress Grant in the underrepresented voices category.
- Nerd Camp panelist for writing authentically about disabilities in books in 2022 and 2023.
- Presenting at NCTE 2023 on how to be inclusive of students with physical and/or learning disabilities in the classroom setting.

Here are some things that make me, well, me!
- I was born in Singapore but went to school in different parts of the world including the American and British schools in Saudi Arabia.
- Books are the best. I love to read!
- My cat's name is Pawsy. As a kid, my friends were my baby chicks and kittens.

- My cat's name is Pawsy. As a kid, my friends were my baby chicks and kittens.
- In my free time, I like to play games. Sudoku is one of my favorite puzzles. Right now I am addicted to the NYT crosswords and connections.
- Food can be challenging since I have food allergies. Luckily, I am not allergic to chocolate and eat it all the time!
- I love to bake. It's not always perfect but it is fun. I enjoy watching baking shows like Nailed it.

NOURA'S CRESCENT MOON is a book about a young, Muslim girl eagerly awaiting the sighting of the new moon so she can celebrate Eid.
This story is for everyone! Muslim kids will see themselves in this book and all kids will learn about Ramadan, fasting, and Eid ul-Fitr. This book gives also children an opportunity to compare and contrast N

This book gives also children an opportunity to compare and contrast Noura's holiday with their own celebrations. An added bonus is the mini lesson on the phases of the moon.
HANA'S HAJJ will be released by Candlewick in 2026. Hana is excited to go camping with her Papa during the Hajj pilgrimage. It will be just like when she camps with her scout except it isn't. Hana comes to realize the true meaning of Hajj and its special community based camping style!
